Can the Villains stop the Gunners?
Ready for a big weekend of football action? We’ve taken a closer look at two of this weekend’s big games, with Arsenal visiting Aston Villa and Napoli hosting Juventus. Can the Birmingham side cause problems for a title-chasing Arsenal? Will reigning champions Napoli grab a win against Juventus?
Aston Villa – Arsenal
Villa Park – 06.12 @ 13:30 CET
Aston Villa sit 3rd in the league ahead of their match against leaders Arsenal this weekend, so this is a massive match for both teams. The hosts are underdogs in this weekend’s first PL match, but they’re in great form and have beaten Man City earlier this season, so it won’t be an easy match for the Gunners.
Their only loss in their last 8 matches came against Liverpool when they lost 2-0 early in November. Losing to Arsenal is obviously no disaster, but a win here would really put Aston Villa in a good position ahead of the Christmas fixtures.
Martinez is out for Aston Villa, so Bizet will be their goalkeeper again, while Barkley and Mings are also missing due to injuries. Their Dutch attacker Malen is their current PL top scorer with 4 goals, but despite not having a huge goalscorer this season, the Birmingham club have scored 20 goals in their first 14 matches. They have won 5 of their 7 home matches in the PL this season, and will be hoping to make it 6 out of eight tomorrow.
Arsenal are struggling a lot with injuries lately, and especially in defense. Mosquera was added to their defensive injury list midweek, and Arteta will probably be relying on White, Timber, Hincapie and Calafiori. The good news it that Arteta has his captain back, and with Merino, Saka, Eze and Gyökeres playing, Arsenal will have plenty of attacking strings to play on.
Arsenal are clear favourites here, but Aston Villa will be desperate to cling to their impressive position in the top 3 as we slowly approach the end of the year.

Napoli – Juventus
Stadio Diego Armando Maradona -07.12 @ 20:45 CET
We’ve got a big match to look forward to Sunday evening when reigning champions Napoli host Juventus. Napoli are level on points with AC Milan ahead of this weekend, and could go top of the league with a win or draw here, depending on other results.
Napoli have yet to lose at home this season, having won 5 of their 6 matches in Naples in the league so far. They average 2.0 goals per match at home, and their fans will be hoping to see goals from the likes of Neres, McTominay and Anguissa.
Napoli are odds favourites at 2.52, with Juventus at 3.20, so this is definitely a match that can swing both ways.
Speaking of Juventus, the Turin side are currently 7th in the league, behind teams like Como and Bologna, and it’s fair to say the illustrious club has struggled to find consistency this season. They’ve won 3 matches in a row now, though, and a win in Naples could be the turning point they’ve been looking for this season.
Worryingly, Juventus have only won 2 of 6 matches on the road this season, and considering Napoli’s strong home form, the visitors will have to be at their very best if they are to leave Naples with any points this weekend.
Juventus have a tough fixture list ahead of them after this match as well, with Pafos in the CL coming up, followed by Bologna away and Roma in Turin.
