Midweek Football Preview
We’re almost midway through the week, and with plenty of football action the coming days, we figured we’d take a look at some of the biggest fixtures coming up! This includes a spicy match in Italy today, plus a couple of cup games from England!
Atalanta – AC Milan
Gewiss Stadium – 28.10 @ 20:45 CET
AC Milan have had a decent start to the season, despite losing their opening game against Cremonese. The win against Napoli showed that this Milan side are ready to beat the best of the best in Italy this season, hopefully challenging for the title. Atalanta are currently at 2.68 to win, with a win for AC Milan at 2.72, so there is not much between these two sides leading up to the match.
AC Milan are currently 3rd in the standings, only 1 point behind Napoli and AS Roma who share the top spot. A win tonight would obviously be massive for them, and depending on how Napoli do earlier in the evening, it could even take the Milano team to the top of the standings. Atalanta have been struggling a bit this season and find themselves in a disappointing 7th place in the standings so far, having only amassed 12 points from their first 8 matches. A win at home tonight against AC Milan would make a huge difference for the Bergamo side, who had Gasperini leave for AS Roma this summer, replacing him with Juric.
Atalanta have a couple of players missing due to injuries, but Scamacca should be back for this one. AC Milan will be missing Pulisic and Rabiot, while there are question marks around Loftus-Cheek and Estupinan.
Don’t forget that we have Early Payout on this one – read more about it here.
Looking at the goalscorer odds for this match, here are the first goalscorer odds for a few of the players from each side:
Lookman – 6.50
Scamacca – 6.50
Gimenéz – 6.50
Leao – 6.50
Nkunku – 7.50
Liverpool – Crystal Palace
Anfield – 29.10 @ 20:45 CET
It’s not been a fun season so far for Liverpool supporters (or players, for that matter), but tomorrow’s cup game could be a positive for a team that has now lost 4 league matches in a row. Interestingly, their first league defeat in this streak started against tomorrow’s opponent, Crystal Palace.
Liverpool are odds favourites at 1.65, with Crystal Palace at 4.95, but considering Liverpool’s two next matches after this, at home to Aston Villa and Real Madrid, Slot could very well rest a lot of players for this one and focus on the league and next week’s big CL fixture.
Crystal Palace have had a decent start to their season, with some impressive wins over Liverpool and away at Aston Villa. They’re currently 10th in the league, with a home match against Brentford coming up this weekend.
We have a feeling Liverpool’s poor form will continue, and Crystal Palace to qualify at 3.10 could be an interesting choice in this one. Last season’s cup triumph will have Crystal Palace going into this match hungry for more trophies, and why not the league cup?
Looking at the goalscorer odds for this match, here are the first goalscorer odds for a few of the players from each side:
Isak – 4.50
Ekitike – 4.50
Salah – 5.50
Mateta – 6.50
Nketiah – 8.50
Newcastle – Tottenham
St. James’ Park – 29.10 @ 21:00
Newcastle is looking to defend their title from last season, when they beat Liverpool 2-1 in the final. Eddie Howe’s Newcastle are odds favourites in this cup fixture at 1.70, with Spurs to win after normal time at 4.70. The hosts have actually beaten Spurs in their last three matches against each other, and having won 4 of their last 5 matches in all competitions, they’re in decent form coming into this cup match.
Spurs have had a strong start to the season, currently sitting 3rd in the league, but they recently lost at home to Aston Villa and as mentioned, they’ve struggled recently against Newcastle. The London team haven’t beaten Newcastle away since 2021.
With a big London derby coming up this weekend at Chelsea, Frank might choose to rest a few players for this one as well. Newcastle will have to do without Livramento, Wissa, Hall and most likely Botman, while Spurs have Maddison, Davies, Dragusin, Kulusevski, Solanke, Bissouma, Udogie and Romero unavailable.
Looking at the goalscorer odds for this match, here are the first goalscorer odds for a few of the players from each side:
Woltemade – 5.00
Gordon – 5.50
Richarlison – 8.50
Muani – 8.50
Enjoy the football!
