Preview: The Nerazzurri heading for the title?

We have an exciting weekend ahead of us in the Italian league, with the Nerazzurri hosting Juve on Saturday evening in the Derby d’Italia, and Gasperini’s Roma visiting Conte’s Napoli on Sunday. Read up on two of this weekend’s big matches from Italy below!

Inter vs Juventus

Giuseppe Meazza, Saturday @ 20:45

Juventus travel to Milan this weekend for a big clash against the title favourites Inter, with the hosts still to lose at home in the league this season. After 12 league matches at Giuseppe Meazza, Inter have won 9 out of 12 matches, with a goal difference of +23 goals. The concede less than 1 goal per match at home, and their points average at home in the league is 2.33. In other words, Juventus have a big task ahead of them this Saturday.

Inter have shown great form lately, especially in front of goal, with a 6-2 win over Pisa and a 5-0 win at Sassuolo to prove it. They lost at home against Arsenal in the CL in January, but other than that, Chivu’s team have look very solid lately, even winning 2-0 away at Dortmund later that same month.

One small comfort for Juventus is that the Nerazzurri have been struggling against some of the big guns in European football, including a 3-4 defeat away at Juventus earlier this season. Juventus have now won two straight matches against Inter, so they’ll be looking for a hattrick of wins here.

Barella and Calhanoglu are both doubts for Inter, though they are back in full training again, with Dumfries also aiming to join the squad after injury problems. For Juventus, Vlahovic and Milik are out, with Conceicao hopefully fit for fight again for Spalletti’s team.

Inter are current odds favourites at 1.95, with both teams to score at 1.78.

First goalscorer odds for a few players head of the weekend:

L. Martinez – 5.50
M. Thuram – 5.50
J. David – 7.50
K. Yildiz – 8.00
Mkhitaryan – 10.00

Napoli vs AS Roma

Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, Sunday @ 20:45

Napoli are odds favourites at 2.38 in Sunday evening’s big match from Italy, with Roma currently at 3.45. The home side haven’t really managed to keep the momentum going after winning the title last season, with injuries certainly playing its part, especially the injury to Kevin De Bruyne.

The Neapolians are extremely solid in front of their home fans, though, with 8 wins and 3 draws in their first 11 home league matches this season. Roma are hoping to become the first team to beat them in Naples in the league this campaign, but they’ll have their work cut out for them. Gasperini’s team have been struggling against the top 6 teams, and with 7 wins and 5 losses away from home in the league this season a draw here would raise a few eyebrows amongst the analysts.

Roma have to do without Kone, the French midfielder that have become an important part of Gasperini’s squad, but newcomer Malen has been on fire since his arrival from Aston Villa. The Dutch striker have scored 3 goals in 4 matches in the league for Roma since signing for the team, and they Roma fans are hoping to see more of this in the upcoming fixtures.

Napoli have yet to lose at home this season, with Roma still to draw away from home, so a home win in this one seems likely, though Roma are hoping to cause an upset here and get to 49 points in the standings, the same as Napoli before this fixture kicks off.

First goalscorer odds for a few players head of the weekend:

Malen – 6.50
Hojlund – 6.50
Soulé – 7.50
McTominay – 8.50
Pellegrini – 9.50
