Spurs One Point From Safety

Spurs’ miserable season comes down to one final afternoon in North London. Roberto De Zerbi’s side head into Sunday’s clash against Everton knowing a draw will be enough to secure PL survival, but confidence around the club has been badly shaken after the midweek defeat to Chelsea extended their alarming run of home form.

Spurs have not won a league game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium since December and the pressure surrounding this fixture is impossible to ignore. Everton may no longer have Europe to chase, but David Moyes will still expect a strong response after a frustrating end to the campaign. Tottenham Hotspur Everton

Match Analysis

Tottenham’s performance at Stamford Bridge summed up much of their season. There were decent spells, moments of attacking quality and signs of fight, but when the game tightened up under pressure, Spurs folded again.

Richarlison’s goal gave them hope late on, while James Maddison changed the rhythm after coming off the bench, but the result means De Zerbi now faces the biggest match of his short Spurs reign.

The biggest concern for Tottenham is psychological rather than tactical. Their inability to turn decent performances into victories at home has become a serious issue, and nerves inside the stadium could quickly spread onto the pitch if Everton frustrate them early.

That said, Spurs still carry attacking threats Everton have struggled with historically. Richarlison tends to thrive in this fixture, while Maddison’s creativity could become crucial against a side likely to defend deep for long stretches.

Everton’s recent run has also been disappointing. Six games without a win have killed off any lingering European hopes, and Moyes has openly admitted the squad needs rebuilding during the summer.

Still, the Toffees remain difficult to break down. They have drawn three of their last six league matches and are generally well organised when protecting central areas. Against a nervous Tottenham side, that compact structure could become a major weapon.

One thing feels almost guaranteed: tension. This is unlikely to become an open, flowing game unless somebody scores early. Tottenham know what is at stake, while Everton will be perfectly happy making this awkward and uncomfortable for as long as possible.

Team News

Tottenham are hopeful Dominic Solanke will return after missing the Chelsea defeat through injury. Maddison is also pushing for his first start of the season after his lively substitute appearance in midweek.

Yves Bissouma and Djed Spence remain strong options if De Zerbi decides to freshen up the side physically.

Everton continue to deal with injuries to Jarrad Branthwaite, Idrissa Gueye and Jack Grealish. Moyes could make several changes after last weekend’s disappointing collapse against Sunderland.

Odds and Tips

This has all the ingredients of a cagey final-day battle. Tottenham’s lack of confidence at home is impossible to ignore, but Everton’s recent struggles in front of goal also make it difficult to fully trust the visitors. Spurs only need a point, and that reality could shape the entire approach. Everton are capable of frustrating them, but Tottenham should just about do enough to survive.

Tip: Draw at 3.80.
