Tournament Preview: Group C & D
Our tournament preview series continues, and next up is Group C and D! These two groups should provide us with plenty of entertainment, with the Brazilian team one of the dark horses of this summer’s big football party!
GROUP C
Brazil arrive as one of the tournament favorites under Carlo Ancelotti, the veteran coach bringing pedigree and tactical intelligence to a squad laden with attacking talent. Morocco, who impressed in 2022, will be competitive under their management structure, whilst Scotland and Haiti round out the group. The Scots are seeking to prove they can compete at this level, with Haiti attempting to make their mark in a challenging draw.
Brazil’s strength is their attacking prowess and the quality of their individual talents. Ancelotti’s appointment signals the Seleção’s ambition, and with the caliber of players at their disposal, they should navigate this group comfortably. Morocco have the experience of a deep run in 2022 and know what it takes to be competitive, though matching Brazil’s firepower will be difficult. Another player to watch out for is their right back Wesley, who has been a big success at Roma this season.
Scotland qualified but face stiff competition. Haiti, the least experienced side in this group, will be fighting to make an impression against considerably higher-ranked opposition.
Brazil look to be clear favorites, with Morocco a worthy second-placed threat depending on how the group unfolds.
Bets to consider
- Morocco to finish 2nd in the group at 1.95
- Scotland not to qualify from Group C at 3.00
- Brazil and Morocco to finish 1st and 2nd at 1.52
GROUP D
The United States, managed by Mauricio Pochettino in his first tournament with the team, enter as hosts with obvious advantages. Türkiye bring European pedigree and experience, Australia, under Graham Arnold, qualified as strong contenders from the Asian confederation, and Paraguay complete the lineup representing South American qualification.
Pochettino brings proven tournament experience to a US side with improving technical quality. Home advantage is significant in tournament football, and the Americans will be expected to progress. Türkiye are a side that understands international competition, with a blend of experience and emerging talent that makes them dangerous. Australia’s qualification suggests improvement under Arnold, and they’ve developed a more cohesive approach in recent campaigns.
Paraguay qualified from South America but face a difficult group. The US and Türkiye appear most likely to advance, with Australia potentially competitive depending on their form heading into the tournament.
